From June 1983 to June 1993 I spent half
of my time as an education consultant. As a consultant I had
to generate contractual work with various constituencies --
universities, school districts, and professional organizations.
I worked extensively with school districts in Hawaii, Upper
State New York, New Mexico, and elsewhere. I conducted numerous
workshops and inservice sessions across Canada, and the USA.
My role has been to consult with administrators assisting
them to develop strategies for helping schools change and
to facilitate literacy and learning inservice workshops with
teacher groups. This work has involved preparing inservice
materials, conducting workshops with teachers and administrators,
assisting participants in initiating teacher/action research
projects as well as helping participants document and publish
